It's been raining a lot out here. And it brings to mind this french movie The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. A very gay (in the old sense of the word, not the same sex meaning) film done entirely in song. Visualy it is amazing. The colors and patterns on the interiors get pretty psychedelic. Incidentally, watching people engage entirely in song for two hours also eventually elicits psychedelic qualities.
My friend and I have an on going arguement about the ending (see above). The story is about a man and woman who meet and fall deeply in love. The man gets drafted and goes to war for a very long time. While he's away, the woman ends up marrying another man. When he returns, he is distraught about the news but, later falls in love and marry's himself. I believe that the moral is that great things can exist in a moment and then are gone. And that things have a way of panning out even if it's not what one initially believes is the "best" thing. My friend believes that they settled for less. Either way watching this movie can make you embarresed for liking it so much. And that's what a guilty pleasure is all about.
if you would like to listen to our song "Flash of Light" on a computer or download it you can now do so at the website No Pain in Pop. If you go back through their archives there's also a really amazing piece about finding samples from Burial songs. I feel like this is what the internet is for.
Not only can you buy booze and lotto tickets but, you can get plus size Apple Bottom jeans, get your car washed, and some frito pie. All in one place! USA! USA! USA!....
We went to see Grant Hart play early in the afternoon. It was a very bitter sweet performance. He played some of my favorite Husker Du songs in a way that made them almost even more emotionally weighted. Never Talking To You Again was sung as though he'd never talk to ANYONE again. Dean and Randy: TOTALLY PSYCHED!
The Texas heat was getting to Peter. The back of this cop car was full of Rock Star energy drink. During SXSW even Austin cops like to party! This guy kinda looks like if Christian Bale's charecter in American Psycho were to play Cliff Huxtable in The Cosby Show movie.
